One of the projects that kept us busy through the summer was the restoration of a little 12 foot dinghy probably built in the 1950’s.

Part of the project was to involve tailor making two pairs of sculls, to the correct length to provide a suitable inboard to outboard ratio or gearing. They were finely hand fashioned in Oregon pine with a laminated spoon shaped blade, with a sleeve of leather and a button fastened to the loom of each scull.

The dinghy required a new stem assembly which was built using air-dried oak bends from the Weald. She also required a lot of new planking. Her hull, gunwhale, floorboards and thwarts were then scraped and sanded back to bare wood, primed and varnished.
